Match.Made Log
This was a project where I had to choose a man-made material and design a sculpture that tells an environmental message. I chose to use matches in a way that would form a tree stump.
The Message: Matches are made out of wood. Matches start fires. Man-made fires can burn down the same thing that this material is constructed from.

Collage Piece
For this project I had to look through magazines, books, in drawers around the house, or in the garage. Anywhere to collect cool type, textures, numbers, images, whatever that I could find that would look interesting in a collage, even handwritten stuff. Many of the textures are made by hand and from photos I had taken. The first collage is the final one chosen and the last two are the ones I didn't choose but I will eventually work on more. This project was fun to incorporate hands-on with digital, and realize that design elements can come from anywhere... an old deck of cards to rubber stamps, receipts, and postage. The final piece was to look worn and vintage by the color, imagery, type, and textures.

Bamboo & Water
The goal of the project was to show depth through various layers by using only black, white, and gray construction paper with geometric and organic shapes only by folding and stacking and NO GLUE. Using two central images I overlapped and combined the sections of the folding book with the shapes, color, and pattern of the connecting pages. I chose to work with the shapes of bamboo and water with all of black, white, and gray.

Shape In Motion
This was a project where I had to make a custom shape out of cardboard. Once I was happy with the shape, I was only able to use multiples of this one shape to create a sense of movement. Using hot glue, spacers, and slight variations in the position of the custom-shaped cardboard I was able to create this movement of twists, turns, and loops from one end of the piece to the other.

2-in-1 Balsa Project
This was a project where I had to find and research two buildings whose designs caught my interest. I chose the Crooked House (Sopot, Poland) and the Dancing House (Prague, Czech Republic). The assignment was to take a part of each of these structures and somehow combine them into one piece of sculpture/architectural model. The first part of the project was to make a rough model with toothpicks and them finalize the design 4 times the scale. This final structure is 28in x 21in x 30in spray painted 2 shades of blue.
